About Casa Nord

We started Casa Nord after living the problem ourselves.

Buying an apartment or a plot of land in Somalia can be complicated — whether you're doing it from Mogadishu or from the other side of the world. We know, because we went through it.

Why We Exist

A process that shouldn't be this complicated.

A few years ago, we bought an apartment ourselves. Partway through, the person who had recommended the property asked for a fee that had never come up before we agreed to buy. We refused to pay it — but it was the first sign of what the rest of the process would look like. Later, when we went to formalize the ownership documents, that step came with its own cost too, one we were told was standard practice, but nobody had mentioned it beforehand.

That pattern is common, not unusual. Brokers and the people who verify land or buildings often introduce fees as they go, rather than laying them out from the start — and it's exactly that missing structure we set out to fix. Every cost involved in a purchase, from the broker's fee to verification to documentation, is disclosed before you commit to anything, not discovered partway through.

The same goes for how you actually pay. Many buyers assume hawala is the only option for a property purchase here, simply because it's what's familiar — but Somali banks issue SWIFT codes and support standard bank transfers once the right documentation is in place. Most people are just never guided through what that requires. We walk buyers through that process directly, so a purchase this size doesn't have to depend on an informal transfer with no paper trail behind it.

Casa Nord exists to close that gap: costs disclosed upfront, documentation handled properly the first time, and one point of contact throughout — whether you're buying from here or coordinating from anywhere else in the world.

Leadership

Experience across Somalia's public and private sectors.

Between us, we've spent years working across different industries and institutions in Somalia and abroad — work that means navigating Somali bureaucracy and getting things done here is second nature. We put that experience directly to work in real estate, so buyers don't have to learn how to get things done here themselves.
